In general, Italian citizenship is transmitted through descent, that is, from parents to children. People born in the country can also claim the right to citizenship in some cases.
All descendants of Italians have the right to citizenship jus sanguinis (right of blood). It is transmitted from the Italian ancestor to their children, without interruption and without a limit on generations.
